Concept models, functional prototypes, low-wear toys, jigs used at room temperature
The default FFF filament: stiff, dimensionally stable, prints on an unheated open-frame machine, and softens above about 55 °C.
PLA is useful early in a design because it reproduces geometry with little warping and does not require a heated chamber. Its stiffness makes concept models feel solid, while fine detail and low shrinkage help reveal interference between parts. Prusa lists concept models, prototypes and low-wear toys among its main uses; its sample prints also include an audio volume knob.
That makes PLA a practical material for checking shape, assembly and control placement. It is less convincing as evidence that the final part will survive service: heat, impacts and sustained load can expose weaknesses that an unloaded fit model never sees. PLA can creep at room temperature and soften in warm surroundings, even when the print initially feels very rigid.
FDM · Standard PLA filament · Manufacturer-listed applications
Prusa identifies concept models, prototypes and low-wear toys as the main uses of standard PLA, emphasizing detail and low warping rather than demanding service conditions.

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification.
