PLA compounded with a chalk-type mineral filler for a diffuse finish; density rises to 1.31–1.38 g/cm³ and flexural strength falls about 30 % below plain PLA.
Matte PLA is mainly a surface-finish choice. Mineral additives scatter light, reducing the shiny highlights that make extrusion lines obvious. That is useful in appearance models, architectural presentation work and visible indoor parts, where readers need to see the shape rather than a glossy reflection. The finish can reduce the amount of sanding or coating needed for a presentable model.
The filler should not be read as reinforcement. The representative data include lower flexural strength than unfilled PLA, and thin details remain brittle. A matte housing may look more finished while being a worse choice for an impact-loaded latch. Its visual advantage also does not remove PLA’s limitations under heat and sustained loading.

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
