Bambu Lab P1P — Identity & Market

Manufacturer & exact marketed model name (verify the exact product identity first)Bambu Lab P1P. Bambu documents it alongside the P1S in a single two-column parameters table
1 source
Variants & sibling models — and how to tell them apart (spec-contamination risk)P1P is the open-frame version; the P1S is the same motion platform in an enclosure with plastic and glass panels. Bambu's own comparison table shows what the P1P lacks: control-board fan, chamber temperature regulator fan, auxiliary part-cooling fan and air filter are all listed "Optional" on the P1P and "Closed Loop Control"/"Activated Carbon Filter" on the P1S. The P1P is also lighter, 9.65 kg vs 12.95 kg, and 386 mm deep vs 389 mm. A P1P Enclosure Kit is sold as a spare part. Filament support differs accordingly: ABS/ASA are "Capable" on the P1P but "Ideal" on the P1S

Market position: superseded? successor announced?Superseded. No longer listed in the Bambu Lab US store 3D-printer collection in Aug 2026 (the collection carries A1, A1 mini, A2L, P1S, P2S, X2D, H2S, H2D, H2C); /products/p1p redirects to the collection page and only P1P spare parts remain in the store sitemap. No live first-party price could therefore be recorded

Raise the glass top beneath an AMS

Jericho’s riser provides a printed support between a glass top and the AMS. Confirm the surrounding enclosure, clearance and chosen print material for your setup rather than treating a printed riser as temperature-certified hardware.

Applies to: Creator lists P1P and P1S with a glass top. An open, stock P1P needs the corresponding enclosure/top arrangement.

Convert the open P1P with the official enclosure kit

The kit adds the enclosure and the cooling components specified in Bambu’s installation sequence. The documented firmware accessory flag lets a converted P1P use the corresponding P1S profiles.

Applies to: P1P enclosure conversion. The accessory flag requires P1 firmware 01.05.00.00 or later and Bambu Studio 1.8.1 or later; complete the hardware sequence first.

Problems & troubleshooting

Inconsistent extrusion: inspect the gears and feed path

Filament debris and wear in the extruder can contribute to clogs and inconsistent flow. Bambu documents inspection, cleaning and lubrication for the P1 extruder, with reassembly checks before printing again.

Applies to: P1P / P1S. Use the P1 electrical connectors and cleaning procedure; the X1 complete hotend is a different assembly.

Hardware & upgrades

Use hardened drive gears when moving to abrasive filament

Bambu lists a hardened extruder gear assembly for the P1 series as an alternative to the stock stainless assembly. Pair the drive-path change with a suitable hardened nozzle and the material’s requirements; the gears alone do not make every abrasive filament suitable.

Applies to: P1P / P1S gear assembly. Select the matching P1 hotend components; do not assume the P2S uses this assembly.

How to read this guide

This guide presents the catalog’s sourced record for this exact model. Source dates belong to each reference; a page update does not mean every specification has been rechecked.

Prices are dated listing snapshots, with configuration, regional and sale conditions. They are not current offers. Unknown values remain unfilled.

Firmware, variants and available accessories can change. Read the original reference before making a purchase or planning a process.

Ownership research & coverage

Firmware, modifications and troubleshooting links are checked against the model and stated hardware or firmware revision. A creator’s compatibility claim is not a fit test by this site. Official troubleshooting describes a diagnostic route; individual reports do not establish a failure rate.

This review did not verify firmware customization or update guidance for this exact model. That is a research gap, not a claim that none exist.
