PLA with 12–20 wt% chopped glass fibre; the Polymaker grade is designed to be annealed, which lifts HDT at 0.45 MPa from 75.5 to 114.7 °C.

Applications

Glass-filled PLA is a more substantial engineering variation than a visual-effect PLA. The fibres increase stiffness, and specifically formulated high-temperature grades can develop better heat-deflection performance after annealing. For HT-PLA-GF, Polymaker reports separate as-printed and annealed results; that distinction matters when comparing it with ordinary PLA or another supplier’s glass-filled grade.

The resulting material is rigid but brittle, particularly across printed layers. It is therefore a poor default for parts whose main requirement is surviving impacts or repeated flexing. Annealing must also be considered part of manufacturing rather than an optional label: the final dimensions and properties are those of the treated part. A measured HDT at a stated load is not a continuous-use temperature for every shape and stress level.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
