ABS reformulated for lower warping and higher heat: Polymaker's ABS Max reaches Tg 126 °C and 118 °C HDT at 0.45 MPa, against 101 °C and 100 °C for its standard grade, but needs 270–300 °C and a 120 °C bed.

Applications

ABS+ is a marketing category rather than a single standardized polymer. Some formulations emphasize easier printing, while Polymaker ABS Pro and ABS Max emphasize higher thermal performance. Polymaker lists enclosures, brackets, clips, jigs and custom printer components for ABS Pro, and automotive components and industrial fixtures for ABS Max. The useful question is which limitation of ordinary ABS the specific formulation addresses.

Higher heat resistance does not automatically mean greater toughness, easier printing or identical behavior between brands. The documented Pro and Max grades have different processing requirements, with Max calling for an actively heated environment. Match thermal data to its test load and preserve the actual grade name when describing an application; a generic ABS+ spool cannot inherit ABS Max’s figures.

  • Enclosures, brackets, clips and custom printer components ↗

FDM · Polymaker ABS Pro · Manufacturer-listed applications

Polymaker lists these applications for ABS Pro where standard ABS may provide insufficient thermal performance. This is a grade-specific recommendation rather than a claim about every ABS+ formulation.

  • Automotive components and industrial fixtures ↗

FDM · Polymaker ABS Max · Manufacturer-listed applications

Polymaker lists elevated-temperature components and industrial fixtures for ABS Max. Its higher heat deflection comes with demanding hot-end, bed and actively heated enclosure requirements.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
