ABS with chopped carbon fibre: tensile modulus more than doubles to 5210 MPa and warping drops, at the cost of elongation falling to 2 % and a mandatory hardened nozzle.

Applications

ABS-CF is primarily a stiffness and dimensional-stability material. CarbonX ABS+CF is explicitly marketed for rigid structural components with reduced warping, making the category relevant to manufacturing fixtures and mechanical locating parts where elastic movement is undesirable. Its advantage is resisting deflection rather than behaving like a stronger version of ABS in every failure mode.

Published printed CarbonX data show a large modulus increase but very low elongation at break. That changes design priorities: avoid thin snap features, sharp stress concentrations and assumptions about impact or fatigue life. Carbon reinforcement is abrasive, and this grade’s surface resistance remains outside the intended static-dissipative category. Select ESD-ABS when charge behavior, rather than rigidity, is the requirement.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
