The default flexible: rubbery but stiff enough to feed reliably, elongation at break above 500 %, and a 30–50 mm/s speed ceiling unless the grade is specifically high-flow.

Applications

TPU around 95 Shore A is a common choice for phone cases, tyres, protective covers, gaskets and flexible machine parts because it combines useful shape retention with elastic deformation. A case needs to stretch over an edge and then retain the device; a tyre needs a deformable contact surface that can survive rubbing. The listed abrasion data helps explain these uses, but grip and impact protection still depend on the exact part and formulation.

Compression and retention are the main design limits. A gasket that remains squeezed, a case lip that stays stretched or a loaded wheel can gradually change shape through creep. Moisture and layer bonding also affect the integrity of a printed part. Industrial TPU wheels and rollers use purpose-selected compounds and controlled geometry; in FDM the same engineering job still requires attention to contact pressure, wear, leakage where relevant, and recovery after the load is removed.

  • Molded industrial wheels and rollers ↗

Injection molding · BASF Elastollan TPU molding family, multiple hardnesses and chemistries; not an FDM 95A equivalence · Manufacturer-listed applications

BASF identifies wheels and rollers as established injection-molded Elastollan applications, using the combination of wear resistance, elasticity and controlled dynamic behavior. The family covers many chemistries and hardnesses; this is background for the engineering role, not evidence for one printed 95A grade.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
