PETG with chopped carbon fibre: stiffness and heat deflection rise — Prusament reaches 96 °C at 0.45 MPa — while impact resistance and layer adhesion fall and a hardened nozzle becomes mandatory.

Applications

PETG-CF is chosen when a fixture, mounting part or housing benefits more from rigidity and dimensional stability than from the flexibility of plain PETG. Prusa describes improved stiffness, thermal resistance and printing stability for its carbon-filled grade, along with reduced stringing and a matte surface. These are useful advantages for locating geometry and visible mechanical components.

The reinforcement does not improve every property: Prusa explicitly reports lower toughness, and published tests show reduced layer performance in some grades. Small highly strained clips, impact-loaded features and sustained precision loads therefore need more care than the carbon-fibre name suggests. The filament is abrasive, and ordinary PETG-CF is not automatically static-dissipative.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
