The highest heat deflection in the dataset — 215 °C at 1.8 MPa on printed Stratasys coupons — and the most demanding process: a 410 °C nozzle, a 90 °C chamber and a 150 °C drying step. Z strength is the weak point, at 36-40 % of in-plane on Stratasys hardware.

Applications

ULTEM 1010 is used for tooling that has to remain rigid during a heated manufacturing process. A documented example is Dassault Falcon Jet's composite layup tool for aircraft interior panels: the printed tool endured the specified consolidation conditions, while a sparse interior reduced its handling weight. The benefit was a usable production tool with shorter lead time and lower weight and cost than the previous tooling route.

Compared with ULTEM 9085, 1010 emphasizes thermal rigidity rather than the particular balance used for many interior parts. Producing reliable tooling requires high-temperature hardware, thorough drying, a heated chamber and control of warping. Thin features and loads across the layers need particular attention because printed strength is direction-dependent. A layup tool's geometry, surface preparation, consolidation cycle and repeated thermal exposure determine its working limits.

Dassault used a printed ULTEM 1010 tool to form composite interior panels. Sparse fill reduced weight, and the case reports shorter lead time and lower cost than the previous tooling method.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
