PEEK with short carbon or glass fibre. Carbon roughly doubles tensile modulus to 8100 MPa and cuts thermal expansion to about a third of unfilled PEEK, at the cost of elongation falling from 28 % to 3 %. Glass grades trade some stiffness for electrical insulation.

Applications

Fiber-filled PEEK is chosen when unfilled PEEK is too compliant or expands too much for the mechanical task. Ensinger describes carbon-filled TECAPEEK CF30 stock for demanding industrial components, including sliding applications: the reinforcement raises stiffness and creep strength, and improved heat conduction can help remove frictional heat from a contact. Carbon and glass fillings serve different needs; glass-filled grades should not inherit carbon-filled electrical or thermal behavior.

Short fibers make printed PEEK stiffer but less able to accommodate strain, favoring rigid components over resilient clips or hinges. Fiber orientation also makes expansion and stiffness direction-dependent. Filler content, counterface and contact heat matter in sliding service. Long-term load and creep limits need evidence for the actual printed grade and orientation; the properties of extruded CF30 stock do not describe every CF10 or CF15 print.

Ensinger identifies sliding applications for its CF30 stock and relates them to stiffness, creep strength and higher thermal conductivity, which can help dissipate contact heat.

How to read these values

Values describe representative grades, not every spool. Manufacturer datasheets and independent tests retain their source labels and dates. Printed orientation, test method, conditioning and formulation can change results. Unknown values are —. A listed use is not a certification. Shore A, Shore D and Rockwell hardness are separate scales.
